During the mass riots involving immigrants, which occurred on Friday in
the city Rosarno in region of Calabria, wounding 37 people, one of the
wounded are dying. This was announced late on Friday, January 8,
prefect of the province of journalists Reggio Calabria Luigi Varatta.
The riots, which were attended by more than a thousand immigrants
mainly from African countries, began in Rosarno more on Thursday
evening. Desperate Africans, which are mainly used in Calabria in the
agricultural sector and, according to eyewitnesses, live in degrading
conditions, took to the streets, destroying everything that came their
way. As a result, dozens of cars were smashed and overturned, trash
cans set on fire, many homes were broken windows. Soon after clashes
between immigrants and members of law enforcement officials, who are
actively including the local population.
